Best red light therapy settings for injury treatment and exercise recovery
Red light therapy can be effective for treating many sports injuries and supporting post-exercise recovery ... but you have to get the settings right. Here's our guide.
Hi there,
Red light therapy used to be available only in specialist clinics. Nowadays, you can do-it-yourself at home - either to treat an injury or to support recovery after racing or hard training.
But it’s not just a matter of flicking the switch and basking in the glow until you feel better. Each type of tissue (e.g. muscles, tendons) responds positively to slightly different settings - including the frequency and strength of the light. And if you overuse it, it can actually slow healing!
